5 things that causes your teeth to change color

Part or whole of your tooth may change color. In most cases this is not caused by improper hygiene rather it is caused by your lifestyle. The five common causes of teeth discoloration include:

Food and Drinks: Consuming items like coffee, tea, red wine, and foods with intense color pigments can stain teeth due to Chromogens attaching to the enamel.

Tobacco Use: Nicotine and tar in tobacco products create tough stains on teeth, with tar being naturally dark and nicotine turning yellowish when mixed with oxygen.

Aging: As enamel thins over time, the yellowish dentin beneath becomes more visible, leading to teeth appearing darker with age.

Trauma: Tooth discoloration can occur after mouth injuries, prompting the tooth to react by producing more dentin, which is darker than enamel.

Medications: Certain medications, especially antibiotics like tetracycline, can darken teeth, and exposure to medication during tooth formation can lead to discoloration later in life.
