Gunshots, Tension On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway As Okada Riders Accuse Policeman Of Shooting Colleague
Gunshots were heard along the Opic area of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday after a police official reportedly assaulted an Okada rider for going against traffic rules.
In reaction, many Okada riders set ablaze tires along the expressway, disrupting traffic.
A number of police and navy officials were also present at the location to maintain order, while ensuring free flow of traffic along the expressway.
Police officials at the scene led by Divisional Police Officer, Abdul Fattah O. declined to comment about the incident.
However, multiple eyewitnesses claimed that a police officer had assaulted an Okada rider for flouting traffic rules, discharging firearms in the process and injuring at least one person.
The injured individual was later rushed to the hospital, according to eyewitnesses.
