#EndBadGovernance: Police apprehend 277 suspected looters in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command announced on Thursday that it has arrested 277 individuals suspected of looting during the ongoing hunger protests. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, provided an update on the situation, revealing that an additional 13 suspects were apprehended on Wednesday.

The arrests took place across various locations, including Gumel, Roni, and Birnin Kudu Local Government Areas. The police were able to recover a significant number of items from the looters, highlighting the extent of the looting activities.

Among the recovered items were 316 bales of mosquito nets, 114 bags of fertilizer, a motorcycle, seven solar panels, 6½ bags of hibiscus flower (zobo), two bags of guinea corn, 19 office chairs, and nine plastic chairs. Other items recovered included five cushion chairs, two standing fans, five ceiling fans, two refrigerators, four doors, 10 iron drawers, two fire extinguishers, two printers, two CPUs, and one stabilizer.

DSP Shiisu assured the public that the situation in Jigawa State is currently calm, as the police continue their efforts to maintain order and prevent further unrest.
