Fire Engulfs Seven-Storey Building in Lagos
In the early hours of Friday, a fire broke out in a seven-storey building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island Local Government Area. The incident was confirmed by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, through a statement on X.com.
According to Adeseye, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call at 05:17 hours and quickly deployed firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations. The firefighters arrived at the scene by 05:33 hours and promptly brought the situation under control.
The fire affected several shops within the building, but no casualties have been reported. Ventilation efforts are ongoing to ensure the area is safe. Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical surge may have triggered the fire.
