Organizers Of #EndBadGovernance Protest Plans ‘Fearless’ Protest In October
The organizers of the recently concluded #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests, which took place nationwide from August 1 to 10, 2024, are preparing to hold another protest in October.
Damilare Adenola, the Director of Mobilization for the Take It Back Movement, confirmed the upcoming protests on Monday.
Adenola stated that the protesters’ demands would remain unchanged unless new issues arise, prompting additional demands.
“Yes, it will be called the ‘Fearless in October Protest.’ Our current list of demands remains the same, but we may add more as the situation in the country worsens,” he said
Recall that youths across the nation had staged the #EndBadGovernance protests nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory, despite efforts by government officials, urging youths to shun the protests.
The protesters, days before the demonstrations, had submitted a list of demands, asking the government to among others, scrap the Senate arm of the National Assembly and make law-making a part-time job for the House of Representatives, pay Nigerian workers a minimum of N250,000, reverse fuel prices and the cost of electricity tariffs to pre-January 2023, and to release and compensate all EndSARS and political detainees.
Asked whether the protesters would heed court orders from state governments requiring them to hold demonstrations at designated points, Adenola responded, “We won’t accept the compliance”.
