Gas Tanker Overturns In Lagos, Causes Gridlock
On Wednesday, a gas tanker, fully loaded, overturned in the Anthony Oke area of Lagos State causing major road blockages and significant traffic congestion.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) shared updates and videos on X.com regarding the incident.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Fire Service were dispatched to the scene, and evacuation efforts are underway. LASTMA officers are actively working to clear the tanker and redirect traffic.
In a statement, LASTMA reported, “A fully loaded gas tanker has overturned at Anthony Oke, near Trem, inward. Necessary measures have been implemented, and our officers are on-site to manage traffic diversions to alternative routes.
“Personnel from the Lagos State Fire Service are present, and the evacuation process is expected to be completed promptly.”
“Evacuation has commenced immediately by LASTMA personnel.”
LASTMA advised motorists to use the service lane after Anthony Oke to continue their journey or take alternative routes.
Road users were also urged to exercise patience as emergency services worked to complete the recovery process.
