Bashir Humphreys Joins Burnley From Chelsea

Burnley have signed defender Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old England Under-21 international joins with the option to buy and spent last season on loan in the Championship with Swansea City.

Having started his career with Reading’s academy, he joined Chelsea at Under-15 level and also previously had a loan spell in Germany with SC Paderborn.

“It makes so much sense for the next step in my career,” he said in an interview.

“Burnley is a club with huge ambitions, the owners know what they’re doing, and they want to push the club on as much as possible.”

Humphreys made his debut for Chelsea in the FA Cup against Manchester City in January 2023 and made one further senior appearance for the club in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon last term.

He made 26 appearances, and scored one goal, for the Swans last season.
