Otti Directs Road Expansion At Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal For Improved Traffic Flow
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed the expansion of roads surrounding the Umuahia mega bus terminal project to facilitate easier vehicular movement. During an inspection visit on Sunday, the governor expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing construction, though he highlighted areas needing adjustment.
Otti noted, “The contractors are doing very well and working according to schedule. However, I’ve observed some areas that need adjustments. We want the roads to be wider, especially with the junction improvements and traffic lights. I’ve asked them to halt at the Cooperative roundabout so we can reassess the situation.”
The governor emphasized that the mega terminal project aims to replicate a model similar to the Oshodi Transport Hub in Lagos. It will integrate various transport systems, including buses and railways, and feature amenities like shopping centers, hotels, and children’s playgrounds. Otti stressed that the project would help streamline the capital city, reducing the number of scattered parks while attracting businesses due to the planned infrastructure.
Though the project may not yield immediate financial returns, Otti believes it will generate significant revenue in the long term. His primary goal, however, is to elevate Umuahia’s appearance and functionality as a state capital.
Earlier, while attending Sunday service at Dunamis Church, Umuahia, Governor Otti expressed his gratitude to church members for their support during the election. He reassured the congregation that his administration prioritizes the welfare of the people, highlighting his commitment to paying off salary arrears and ensuring that public funds are used to benefit citizens.
The governor was accompanied by key political figures, including Hon. Obi Aguocha, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie Nmerekini, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, and Pastor Caleb Ajagba, among others.
