Gridlock As Diesel Tanker Explodes Again On Otedola Bridge in Lagos
A diesel tanker has spilled all its contents and exploded on Otedola Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing an extremely heavy traffic along the route and environs.
According to sources and reports, the incident occurred a few minutes to 6pm on Saturday.
It caused panic on the expressway as many vehicles had to make U-Turn in a bid to avoid being razed by fire.
Some passengers were also sighted alighting from different vehicles in a rush.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency [LASEMA] has however stated that the accident also affected a truck conveying goods. According to the unit, no casualties were recorded.
”The agency has responded to the above and upon arrival of the Agency’s offilcials at the incidentlagos scene, it was observed that a tanker conveying an unknown amount of diesel fell spilling its contents which resulted to an explosion that affected a truck conveying goods”, the agency tweeted.
”No injuries were recorded and the extent of property damaged is still being determined”.
LASEMA included that the Rescue/Recovery operations were ongoing.
Note that similar occurrences have been recorded in the same location in the past.
