Customs Seize Contrabands Worth N50m In Katsina
The Katsina Command Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) have intercepted 18 contrabands with a Duty Paid Value of 50 million, 378 thousand, 800 Naira in Katsina State.
The success recorded as part of measures and strategies put in place by the command to suppressing smuggling activities to the barest minimum and generate more revenue for the country.
In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Katsina Customs Area Command, the new Acting Comptroller in charge of the Command, DC Dalha Wada pledges commitment not only to facilitate trade but also enhance Ease of Doing Business in the state.
DC Wada asked those interested in the business of either importation or exportation to contact the command in order to become a licensed clearing agent that can operate anywhere in the country against running inside the bushes.
Out of the 18 seizures made from the period of 9th April to 4th May 2021, nine different vehicles were intercepted with nine assorted food, and non-food items were seized in the process of arriving into the country from the Niger Republic.
It could be recalled that the command had March 2021 arrested two smugglers in the state, one of which was driving a Dangote Truck loaded with prohibited items.
In the process, assorted items with a Duty Paid Value of 58,566,300.00 naira were intercepted.
