Two Feared Dead in BRT, Commercial Bus Crash in Lagos
Two people were feared dead and several others injured in a crash involving a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle and a commercial bus on the Ile-Epo, Agege end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos State on Sunday.
The incident happened around 8 pm when the two vehicles had a head-on collision.
Our correspondent learnt that the commercial bus driver passed through the BRT lane due to the closure of the Ile-Epo side of the expressway due to ongoing rehabilitation works on the road.

According to residents, drivers are allowed to ply the BRT lane due to the construction work.
However, the bus driver, who was said to be speeding, reportedly overtook other motorists and crashed into the BRT vehicle, which was coming from the opposite direction.
A driver, Taiwo Yusuf, who claimed to have witnessed the accident, blamed it on the impatience of the bus driver.
“He should have exercised patience and followed others on the lane which commercial buses were allowed to use. Instead, he tried to go in the opposite direction and that was what caused that accident,” Yusuf added.
A taxi driver, Owolabi Adisa, faulted the incessant closure of the Ile-Epo-Super side of the road, which he said was narrow and always flooded.
A resident, Muhammed Aisha, said she saw when the vehicles were towed away on Monday.
“I heard that two people died and many other passengers were injured in that accident,” she added.
The Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Olusegun Ogedengbe, said he was not aware of the crash.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, had yet to respond to enquiries on the incident.
A spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Olumide Filade, did not take his phone, which rang out.
