Newcastle Signs Kieran Trippier From Atletico Madrid
Newcastle have signed a two and half year contract with Kieran Tripper from Atletico Madrid, making him their first signee under the new ownership.
The Magpies are set for a busy January transfer window with new boss Eddie Howe desperate for reinforcements in a bid to stave off the threat of relegation from the Premier League.
Trippier, who was signed by Howe in 2012 for former club Burnley during his spell in charge at Turf Moor, won La liga with Atletico last season but is relishing his return to England
He said: “I’m delighted to be joining this fantastic club. I really enjoyed my time in Madrid, but when I became aware of interest from Newcastle United, and having worked with Eddie Howe before, I knew this was where I wanted to be”.
The Magpies are currently 19th in the Premier League table, two points adrift of Watford in 17th, having won just one league game this season.
