Pierre Cardin, Legendary Fashion Designer Dies At 98
French fashion designer, Pierre Cardin who gets the accolades for creating stunning fashion pieces and for bringing stylish outfits to the masses has died on Tuesday, 29th of December, 2020, at the age of 98, according to his family.
Pierre, who was born to a struggling family in northern Italy but became a France-based fashion superstar, died in a hospital in Neuilly in the West of Paris.
According to the statement his family released; ”It is a great day of sadness for all our family, Pierre Cardin is no more. After a lifetime spanning a century, he had left France and the world a ”great unique artistic heritage”, and not only in fashion”.
Pierre was born in 1922 near Venice in Northern Italy,his family however, emigrated to France when he was a little boy.
His family further stated that; ”Italian by birth, Pierre Cardin never forgot his origins while bringing unconditional love to France”.
His family also praised how he had ”plunged early on into the flow of globalization”.
He designed the gorgeous sets and costumes for the film; ”Beauty and the Beast” with poet, artist and director Jean Cocteau in 1947.
His own fashion label was also set up in 1950, creating the now legendary bubble dress in 1954.
Cardin was the first French designer in 1979 to build links with China as a result of his creativity.
”We are all proud of his tenacious ambition and the daring attributes he has shown throughout his life”, his family announced.
