Riverdale Actor, Ryan Gratham Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Killing Mother

Canadian actor, Ryan Gratham, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he killed shooting his mother in 2020.

Gratham, who pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of his mother Barbara Waite in March 2020, was sentenced to a life imprisonment with parole ineligibility of 14 years.

While delivering the sentence in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver on Wednesday, Justice Kathleen Ker recounted several disturbing details revealed during the actor’s trial.

Famous for his role in Diary of a Whimpy Kid and the TV series Riverdale, Gratham turned himself in to the Canadian police after shooting his mother in the head as she played piano in their Squamish townhouse on March 31, 2020.

According to reports, he also allegedly planned to kill Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

After committing the initial murder, reports disclosed that he loaded his car with three guns, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping supplies, and a map with directions to Rideau Cottage, Trudeau’s residence.

The actor, however, had a change of heart before reaching the destination and reported his crime at a Vancouver police station.

The Judge mentioned psychiatric reports, which revealed that the actor had been experiencing months of “intense period of clinical depression” before the incident.
