Apapa Port Gridlock Will End Soon – Lagos Govt

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, has said the state government is dedicated about putting an end to the gridlock experienced in the Apapa Port area.

Giwa, who said this on Friday during an interactive session with stakeholders, explained that the state government was going to continue to engage them (stakeholders) to ensure the gridlock became a thing of the past.

He added that irrespective of the success recorded in managing traffic around Apapa with the introduction of the ‘Eto’ system to petroleum tankers, the government was still working to resolve other challenges to ensure that motorists had seamless movement around the area.

He further said that the state government was trying to establish a process that would be seen as “fair and beneficial” to everyone regardless of the delay.

“When the road is free, motorists will move freely without traffic and tankers turnover will be high. Traffic causes health, security and other social problems.

“The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is discussing the involvement of the private sector in providing parking space where tankers could temporarily park while awaiting their individual call-up for loading,” he said.
