PSG Sacks Coach Christophe Galtier After Winning Ligue 1 Title
Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has announced the dismissal of its head coach, Christophe Galttier after just one season.
The 56-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Qatari-backed club upon his appointment in July 2022 but failed to complete a single year in the French capital.
Whilst Galtier led the side to their 11th championship after a successful 2022-23 league campaign, his time at PSG was blighted by a failure to progress past the round-of-16 in the Champions League.
Attaining success at the highest level in Europe is something that has eluded the Parisian behemoths, and two losses against Bayern Munich in the first round of the knockout stages dealt Galtier a marked card.
PSG also experienced a too-brief Coupe de France campaign, falling to Olympique Marseille in the round-of-16.
According to sources, PSG sporting director Luis Campos, on Tuesday informed Galtier that he was sacked by the club with former Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann set to continue talks with the club.
Sources added that the club also held talks with former Spain and Barcelona coach Luis Enrique but has now made Nagelsmann their top target, with the German coach keen for Thierry Henry to join him as his assistant.
