Five Die, Eleven Others Sustain Injuries In Ondo Auto Crash
A total of five persons lost their lives, while eleven others sustained injuries in an auto crash that occurred in Ikaram-Akoko, Ondo State.
It was gathered that the lone accident, involving an 18-passengers bus with registration number DKA256XY, was traveling to the northern part of the country when the crash happened.
The Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Ezekiel Son’Allah, confirmed the incident and said overspeeding was responsible for the crash.
He disclosed that the crash happened at about 12.30 pm and involved 18 passengers.
According to him, while five passengers died, 11 sustained injuries, and two were unhurt.
“The victims were taken to State Specialist Hospital, Ikare Akoko for medical attention and the corpses were taken to same hospital morgue while the crashed vehicle was taken over by men of Nigeria Police Force, Oke- Agbe Division,” the FRSC boss said,
Reacting to the development, the monarch of Ikaram Akoko, Oba Andrew Momodu, said the community had approached the Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to erect speed breakers around the junction where the crash happened, adding that road crashes were common in the area.
