Captain Lewis Dunk Sign New Brighton Contract

Brighton’s captain Lewis Dunk has signed a new three-year contract extension with the Premier League side.

The center-back has committed to Brighton until June 2026 in a boost to head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

De Zerbi said: “Long live the captain! I’m really happy he has signed this new contract. It’s good news for Lewis and the club.”

Dunk has been a key and consistent performer for his hometown club during their rise from League One to the top half of the Premier League.

The 31-year-old was part of the club’s youth system before making his first-team debut in 2010 as an 18-year-old.

He was made captain in 2019 and passed the 400-appearance mark in February, taking his tally to 416 by the end of a 2022-23 campaign during which Brighton secured a sixth-placed finish and European football for the first time.

Dunk, who won his only England cap so far in 2018, was recalled to the squad for last month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia but pulled out of the squad after admitting he had pushed himself through a “couple of injury issues” towards the end of Brighton’s historic season.

Brighton starts the new Premier League term at home to Luton on August 12.
