Former Bayelsa Chief Judge, Kate Abiri Dies Aged 65
Kate Abiri, the immediate past chief judge of Bayelsa state has lost her life at the age of 65.
In a statement on Thursday, Amaebi Orukari, chief registrar at the state high court, made it known that the former chief judge passed away on Thursday after a brief illness.
“With a deep sense of loss, the honourable chief judge of Bayelsa state, Hon. justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, announces the demise of Hon. justice Kate Abiri, CON, whose sad event occurred on the 3rd of August, 2023,” the statement reads.
“The Jon. justice Kate Abiri passed on after a brief illness at the Glory Land Hospital, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
“Until her death, she was the immediate past chief judge of Bayelsa state.”
Orukari said the Bayelsa judiciary would miss the late jurist’s pioneering efforts in information technology, infrastructural development, and contribution to the legal community and the state in general.
He added that burial arrangements will be announced after consultation with the family.
