Nicolo Fagioli Sign New Juventus Contract

Juventus midfielder, Nicolo Fagioli has signed a new contract with the Serie A side until June 2028.

The 22-year-old has been at the Serie A club since 2015, rising through the youth ranks until his senior debut in 2021.

Fagioli’s renewal comes after he was issued a seven-month ban from football for breaching FIGC (Italian FA) rules on gambling.

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said: “We confirm what we had already communicated a few weeks ago: we support Nicolo Fagioli in his therapeutic and training journey, and we want to provide him with all the support he will need in the coming months.

“The renewal of his contract is precisely in line with this, but not only: Nicolo is a very important player for us, his technical quality and his tactical intelligence are known to everyone, and we are convinced that his return to the pitch will be for us an added value of primary importance.

“So Fagioli must know, and he does know, that he can continue to work here, training every day with the team, with the necessary serenity. And he also knows that we are counting on him and waiting for him.”

Fagioli also received a €12,500 (£10,840; $13,180) fine for breaching Article 24 of the FIGC’s sporting justice code. He had placed over-under bets on both foreign and domestic games through an unauthorized online betting platform.

While undergoing therapy and fulfilling community service commitments, the midfielder is allowed to train with Juventus. This service includes a five-month period of speaking engagements at amateur football clubs, federal training centers, and charities dedicated to addressing gambling addiction.

Fagioli was the first footballer named in connection with the probe by the Turin flying squad into illegal betting platforms alongside Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zanioli. Tonali himself has since been banned from all football activity for 10 months after being found guilty of breaching rules on gambling by the FIGC.
