Anambra-Based Controversial Prophet, Onyeze Jesus Arrested By The Police
The Anambra State Police Command has allegedly arrested controversial prophet, Onyeze Jesus, whose real name is Onyebuchi Okocha, the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries located at Nkpor, Idemili North local government area of the state.
This comes days after the Anambra State Government criticized the ‘criminal and indecent’ conduct of the prophet after a viral video revealed him and his followers in a river, where they bathed naked while he sprayed them with N50 notes.
A source revealed that the prophet was reportedly arrested on Wednesday, January 27.
According to him; “Onyeze Jesus is in police custody. He was arrested on Wednesday, 27th January 2021, and will likely be arraigned for various offences on Thursday, 28th January 2021.”
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed has confirmed the arrest.
Recall that on Monday, the Anambra State Government through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenement, Don Adinuba, said that Onyeze Jesus promotes superstitions and strife by telling his gullible followers that their misfortunes are triggered by family members, relatives and business associates.
The statement also condemned the abuse of the naira notes by the pastor, an action which is against the rules of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act of 2007.
Following condemnation and backlash over the viral video, the prophet apologised to Nigerians and the Anambra State for abusing Naira notes and sharing nude videos of people online.
