Third Mainland Bridge Repairs To Continue January 9 – LASG

The Lagos State Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed on Tuesday, January 9, for repairs.

It was reported that the bridge, which was closed to traffic in November 2023, was reopened on December 21 to ease traffic during the Yuletide period.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement made it known that the closure was to allow the repair works of the Federal Ministry of Works to continue on some sections of the bridge.

He said the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele section would be closed for effective repairs of the entire section of the bridge.

“The closure is part of the ongoing work that started in November 2023, focusing on fixing the ramps, and now, the remaining parts of the bridge will also be repaired,” he stated.

Osiyemi said arrangements had been made to ease the burden of commuting.

He said from 12 am to 12 noon, the bridge would be open for Mainland inbound Island travelers, while those who intend to travel from the Island to the Mainland are advised to use Eko Bridge.

“Conversely, from noon to midnight, motorists will be able to access the bridge from the Island to the Mainland while motorists from the Mainland heading towards the Island will have to use Eko Bridge.

“These timings have been selected to match the peak period flow of traffic and reduce travel stress.

“Please cooperate with our traffic management officials who will be helping out. Thanks for your usual understanding and cooperation. Let’s work together to keep our roads safe,” he said.
