NCDC Shuts Hospital Over Fake COVID-19 Test Results
The Nigeria centre for disease control (NCDC) says it has closed down a health facility in the Federal capital Territory Abuja (FCT)for allegedly collecting funds and presenting patients with fake covid 19 results.
Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General, NCDC, disclosed this during the Presidential Task Force ( PTF) on COVID-19 national briefing in Abuja on Monday.
He said the development followed an investigation conducted by the government after a media report last year revealed underhand dealings of some laboratories issuing fake results.
Recall that in December 2020, it was reported that for N25,000, travellers were getting fake COVID-19 test results.
Citing the reports, Chikwe said the authorities had swung into action and found one of the places where travellers get fake results without having their samples tested for the virus.
