Kano Govt Declares Monday Public Holiday For New Islamic Year

The Kano State Government has announced that Monday will be a public holiday to mark the start of the new Islamic calendar year, 1446 AH.

The State Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye made this known on Friday.

Governor Yusuf Abba encouraged citizens to take this opportunity to reflect on the past year and participate in activities that will benefit the community. He urged the people of the state to use the holiday for introspection and to engage in positive and supportive endeavors during these challenging times.

The state government on its part will continue to implement and initiate policies and programmes that will empower citizens to be self-dependent,” the statement said.

Abba also called on the Muslim community to intensify prayers for continuous peace and progress in the state and the country at large.

He also highlighted the importance of collective effort and prayer in achieving the state’s goals.

He expressed optimism that with the prayers and support of the people, his administration will turn around the fortunes of the state and return it to be one of the most economically prosperous among its peers in the country.
