Abducted Former Rep Member, Onyemaechi Regains Freedom

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of Joan Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, who was abducted on July 30, 2024. Onyemaechi was kidnapped from her church located off DBS Road in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. The abduction occurred after gunmen tragically killed her police orderly and driver.

SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, confirmed her release during a conversation with a correspondent on Saturday morning. Edafe stated that Onyemaechi was freed on Friday night, bringing an end to her days-long ordeal. Further details regarding the circumstances of her release or whether any suspects have been apprehended have not yet been disclosed.
