#NigeriaAt64: President Tinubu Confers GCON On Godswill Akpabio And Kekere-Ekun
President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honor of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Senate President Godswill Akpabio; and the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The President disclosed the conferment in a broadcast to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary in Abuja on Tuesday.
“As is the tradition, the government will soon announce all the beneficiaries of our national honors for 2024,” Tinubu said.
“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the honor of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).”
Tinubu also conferred the honor of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The President also awarded the honor of the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) to the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu.
Tinubu assured Nigerians of better days ahead, saying “The challenges of the moment must always make us believe in ourselves”.
“We are Nigerians—resilient and tenacious. We always prevail and rise above our circumstances.
“I urge you to believe in our nation’s promise. The road ahead may be challenging, but we will forge a path toward a brighter future with your support.
