Taraba Governor Swears In Ex-Speaker as Special Adviser, 16 Permanent Secretaries

On Thursday, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, officially swore in Josiah Kente as the Special Adviser on Political Matters, alongside 16 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, in a ceremony held at the Executive Chamber of Government House, Jalingo. During the event, Governor Kefas emphasized the critical role of integrity, professionalism, and dedication in public service, urging the new appointees to serve the state to the best of their abilities.

Kefas reminded them that their decisions would have a lasting impact on the people of Taraba, highlighting that their leadership and daily actions would reflect the priorities of his administration. He emphasized that the core principles guiding his government—good governance, service delivery, teamwork, and professionalism—should be at the heart of their responsibilities. “You are the key drivers of our governance. The people of Taraba will feel the effects of your leadership through the decisions you make daily and how you conduct your responsibilities,” Kefas stated.

In response, Josiah Kente, a former Speaker of the Taraba House of Assembly, expressed gratitude on behalf of the appointees. He pledged their commitment to upholding the trust placed in them and aligning their efforts with the governor’s policy of inclusive governance. Kente assured that they would serve with integrity, transparency, and diligence to advance the state’s political landscape.

Kente remarked, “Political leadership is not just about power; it is about service, listening to the voices of our people, and working tirelessly to translate their aspirations into reality.” He also pledged the appointees’ full commitment to supporting Governor Kefas’s vision and ensuring that the state’s political direction would reflect the needs of all its citizens.

He further expressed confidence that, through collaboration with the administration and political leaders, they could strengthen democratic institutions and bring meaningful change to Taraba.
