Former Ekiti ADP Governorship Candidate And Supporters Join APC

Kemi Elebute-Halle, a former governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ekiti State, officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) along with her supporters on Thursday. The defection was formalized during a reception at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, welcomed Elebute-Halle and her team.

Addressing journalists after the event, Elebute-Halle explained that her decision to leave the ADP for the APC was primarily motivated by the ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. She expressed confidence that the policies of the current government would eventually make Nigerians proud. She emphasized her alignment with Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and highlighted her desire to contribute to the success of his administration.

Elebute-Halle also credited Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for playing a key role in her decision to join the APC. She explained that after ongoing discussions, she made her final decision on October 7, 2024, when a congress-like event was held in Ekiti State. On that day alone, over 7,000 individuals, both men and women, defected to the APC, coming from various political parties, including the APP, SDP, LP, PPA, PDP, AD, and ADP.

We are joining the APC to be progressive partners with Mr. President and support his Renewed Hope Agenda. We believe that the government’s current policies will eventually succeed,” Elebute-Halle stated, underscoring her optimism about the nation’s direction under the APC-led administration.

In his remarks, Ganduje praised Elebute-Halle and her supporters for their bold decision to switch to the APC, affirming their belief in Tinubu’s vision for the country. He also reassured the new members that they would have equal opportunities within the party and would be fully integrated into its activities and decision-making processes.

The defection marks a significant political shift in Ekiti State and beyond, as the APC continues to consolidate its influence and attract members from across Nigeria’s political spectrum.
