Nigerian Actress Wofai Fada Ties The Knot with Taiwo Cole Amidst Family Controversy
Nigerian actress and comedian Wofai Fada has taken to social media to announce her official marriage to Taiwo Cole, her partner, after navigating months of family controversy. Sharing photos from their civil ceremony at the Ikoyi Registry, Wofai celebrated the union, captioning her Instagram post, “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite. Legally hitched. @taiwo.cole.7 #TWOforever. #MrsCole. #2 of 3, and forever to go.”
This formal wedding ceremony follows their traditional marriage in Calabar, Cross River, held in May, which stirred public attention after Taiwo’s family publicly disapproved of the union. In a statement released shortly after the traditional ceremony, the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, announced they had neither acknowledged nor supported the marriage.
The family’s statement read: “This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family… are not aware of any marriage ceremony involving our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole; nor did we grant permission or support in this regard… All publications and documents being circulated about this should be disregarded.”
Despite the challenges, Wofai continued to publicly support her relationship, sharing a video with the caption “Let love lead” on Instagram, where she has a large following of over 1.2 million. In a gesture of support amid the family discord, Taiwo’s twin sister, Kehinde Cole, congratulated the couple on X, stating, “Congratulations to my twin brother and my new sister in love – your union is blessed with love.”
The couple’s determination to overcome obstacles and legalize their union has inspired fans and observers, many of whom have praised Wofai’s resilience and the couple’s dedication to each other.
