Bobrisky Departs Nigeria, Citing Health And Sanity Concerns Amid Travel Issues

Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, announced a “temporary” departure from Nigeria on Monday, attributing his decision to prioritizing his mental and physical well-being. In a post shared on Instagram, Bobrisky confirmed, “I need to attend to my sanity and my health.”

His departure follows a series of travel disruptions and recent legal complications. Bobrisky expressed disappointment with Nigerian security agencies, accusing them of creating hurdles that impacted his travel plans. Specifically, he called on KLM Airlines for a refund on two unused business class tickets, each costing approximately N9.8 million, noting that he had only been able to travel successfully on his third booking attempt.

Reflecting on his frustration with the obstacles he encountered, Bobrisky stated, “Few Nigerian security agencies tried everything to frustrate me, but naaa, I gat God.” He added that he finally departed on November 3, 2024, after multiple attempts.

This development comes shortly after Bobrisky’s release from questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). On Thursday, he was detained while attempting to board an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Following this, he was escorted to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was reportedly questioned over allegations of bribery and money laundering. According to Bobrisky, he sustained injuries during the incident but was later released on bail after denying the bribery claims.

In his Instagram post, he addressed critics, challenging them to consider their financial situations before judging his ability to afford multiple business-class tickets. “Well, I’m not in Nigeria, so your comment means nothing,” he added.

Bobrisky’s departure has sparked conversations online, highlighting his ongoing clashes with authorities and his claims of persecution by local agencies. The cross-dresser has not confirmed the duration of his stay outside Nigeria or when he plans to return.
