Ogun Security Corps Arrests Ex-Convict For Alleged Generator Theft
The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have apprehended two teenagers, Abdullahi Idowu (18) and Samson Ojo (17), for stealing generator engine parts at the Idiroko border area in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the suspects were arrested during a joint patrol by the corps’ Special Squad and Idiroko Divisional Team on November 17, 2024, at 10:30 p.m.
Details of the Arrest
•Abdullahi Idowu, an ex-convict, resides in the Babaloke area of Idiroko.
•Samson Ojo lives in the Etikoto, Ikolaje area of Idiroko.
Both were caught in possession of two bags containing stolen generator engine parts. A preliminary investigation revealed that Idowu had previously served a jail term in the Benin Republic and confessed to stealing the generator parts from a customs office in Idiroko. He also admitted to stealing a large battery earlier and selling it to a scrap dealer.
Recovered Items
Further inspection of the area led to the discovery of additional generator parts hidden in a nearby bush. The stolen parts have been confirmed as property of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command.
Next Steps
The suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the Nigeria Customs Service for further investigation.
The arrest underscores the vigilance of the So-Safe Corps in combating crime in Ogun State, particularly around sensitive border areas.
