Senate Confirms Oloworaran As DG Of PENCOM
On Thursday, the Senate approved the appointment of Omolola Oloworaran as the Director-General of the National Pension Commission.
The confirmation came in response to President Bola Tinubu’s request, which was submitted to the Senate for consideration.
The decision was made after the Senate reviewed and adopted the report presented by the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service during the plenary session.
Committee Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, a member of the All Progressives Congress representing the Ekiti North Senatorial District, stated that the committee had observed that the nominee met the legal requirements specified under sections 19 (2), (5), (6), and 26 of the Pension Reform Act 2014 (Act No. 4) for appointment to the position of Director-General of the National Pension Commission.
He added that the committee had established both in fact and law that the nominee had satisfied the requisite requirements and was “a qualified, fit, and proper person suitable for appointment as Director-General of the National Pension Commission.”
The lawmakers approved Oloworaran’s nomination for the PENCOM DG’s role when Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over plenary, put the committee’s recommendation to a voice vote.
