IGP Egbetokun To Launch School Protection Squad In Ogun State
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is set to launch the School Protection Squad in Ogun State, an initiative designed to enhance the safety and security of schools across the region.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the inauguration will take place during a two-day event themed “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders.” The event, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, will focus on collaborative efforts to safeguard educational institutions.
Event Focus and Objectives
The programme aims to provide stakeholders with comprehensive insights into measures adopted by the Nigeria Police Force to secure schools. Key highlights include:
•Rapid Response Deployment: Ensuring quick reactions to security threats.
•Vehicular Patrols: Increasing police visibility around school environments.
•Orientation Sessions: Educating students, principals, and school partners on safer security practices.
Speaking on the initiative, Odutola emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “The programme is designed to enlighten stakeholders about school safety and the proactive steps taken by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure every school in Ogun State is well-protected.”
