World’s Oldest Man, John Alfred Tinniswood, Dies At 112

Guinness World Records has announced the passing of John Alfred Tinniswood, officially recognized as the world’s oldest man. Tinniswood died peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the age of 112 at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England.

A Life Surrounded by Love and Music

In a statement released on Tuesday, Guinness World Records expressed its condolences:

Guinness World Records is saddened to learn that John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, has died at the age of 112. He passed away yesterday at the care home in Southport, England, where he resided.”

John’s family also shared their heartfelt tribute:

We are saddened to inform you that John Alfred Tinniswood died peacefully on Monday (November 25) aged 112, at his care home in Southport. His last day was surrounded by music and love.”

They extended their gratitude to the care staff and health professionals who supported him throughout his long life:

John always liked to say thank you. So, on his behalf, thank you to all those who cared for him over the years, including his carers at the Hollies Care Home, his GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists, and other NHS staff. John’s life was one surrounded by love.”

A Life Well Lived

John Alfred Tinniswood was born on August 26, 1912, to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood. He married his late wife, Blodwen, with whom he had one daughter, Susan. A lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC, Tinniswood lived through monumental historical events spanning three centuries.

In April 2024, he gained global recognition when he was officially named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records, following the death of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, who lived to 114.

John is survived by his daughter, Susan; grandchildren Annouchka, Marisa, Toby, and Rupert; and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Callum, and Nieve.

A Remarkable Legacy

Tinniswood’s life was defined by resilience, gratitude, and love. His passing marks the end of an extraordinary chapter, but his memory and achievements will continue to inspire generations to come.
