Kogi Governor Usman Ododo Distributes Over 100 Truckloads Of Rice For Festive Season
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has distributed over 100 truckloads of rice to residents across the 21 local government areas of the state. This initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to ensure a joyous Christmas and New Year celebration for families amidst rising living costs.
The gesture was announced in Lokoja, the state capital, by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Kogi residents.
“I can confirm that the People’s Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, has taken delivery of over 100 truckloads of rice, which are being distributed to families statewide. This initiative reflects his resolve to prioritize the well-being of the masses,” Fanwo said.
In addition to distributing rice, Governor Ododo ensured the prompt payment of civil servants’ salaries on December 14, 2024, while also extending support to residents not on the government payroll. According to Fanwo, the administration remains focused on alleviating economic hardship through inclusive policies and proactive measures.
To guarantee fairness, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has been tasked with overseeing the distribution process. Governor Ododo directed the ministry to prevent political interference and ensure that the relief materials reach those in need.
“This administration is committed to transparency and equity. Measures have been put in place to ensure the materials are not hijacked by politicians or other interest groups,” Fanwo added.
The distribution has been met with widespread praise from residents, many of whom have expressed gratitude for the governor’s proactive leadership. Andrew Abah, a resident of Ajaka in the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, described the governor as a compassionate and inclusive leader.
“This governor has shown remarkable capacity and genuine love for his people. He is detribalized and inclusive, ensuring the welfare of civil servants and ordinary citizens. He is making it difficult for anyone to dislike him,” Abah remarked.
The distribution of rice forms part of a broader strategy by Governor Ododo’s administration to cushion the effects of economic hardship on Kogi residents, particularly during the festive season.
