Nigerian Lawmaker, Son And Two Others Dies In Auto Crash

A member of the House of Representatives, Haruna Maitala, is dead.

Maitala died in a road accident along Bade-Gitata road on Friday night while he was on his way to Jos, Plateau State.

He died alongside his son, driver, and security aide, who were all in the vehicle.

Until his death, Maitala represented Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives.

Mr Abdulkadir Abubakar, Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker also confirmed that Maitala, along with the others, was on his way to Jos from Abuja when the accident occurred.

“I am not familiar with the road but the accident occurred around Kwoi-Kafachan-Jos Road.He died alongside his son, his legislative aide and his driver”he said.

Maitala is the fifth member of the lower legislative chamber to have died in the ninth assembly.

He died barely a month after the house lost Hassan Yuguda, who represented Gwaram Federal Constituency.
