Abia State Governor, Alex Otti Restricts Movement Of Heavy Duty Vehicles
Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has restricted the movement of heavy-duty vehicles from 7 am to 8 pm in Aba and Umuahia.
The governor also announced that a thorough investigation would be carried out to ascertain the immediate and remote cause of a fatal motor accident that occurred at the Waterside Bridge, Ogbor Hill Aba.
Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, said measures would be put in place to forestall future occurrences including restricting the movement of heavy-duty trucks to ply only at night.
“The measures are to stop heavy-duty vehicles from plying in the daytime but at night,” he said.
The governor, who visited several hospitals in Aba, where victims of the accident were receiving treatment, thanked God that those affected were doing well and expressed the hope that they would be discharged soon.
“What happened is quite unfortunate and necessary investigations will be carried out,” he said.
