After 5th Anniversary, Olu Of Warri Dies of Alleged COVID-19 Complications.

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Godfrey Ikenwoli, has kicked the bucket barely one week after the grand finale of his fifth coronation anniversary celebration.

He was the 20th Olu of Warri to have ascended the throne.


As the news of the passage of the Monarch made waves on Monday, shops and offices in the Warri royal palace environment closed to show respect to the deceased. People were also seen in groups discussing about the new development in hushed tones.

Sources revealed that the former General Officer Commanding 6 Divisions in Portharcourt, Major-General Olu Irefin, whose death was roughly two weeks ago and attributed to Covid-19, was recently received by the Olu of Warri in the royal palace.

Aged 65 years, Ogiame Ikenwoli Godfrey, ascended the royal stool of Warri Kingdom on 12th December 12, 2015.

Recall that the monarch was lively and did not show signs of illness as he joyfully received well wishers from far and near who paid him royal homage during his fifth coronation anniversary, less than a week ago.

The late Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli     Godfrey Emiko, was married to Olori Mary Emiko and were blessed with three children.
