Air Force Eliminates Notorious Terrorist And 38 Others In Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the death of a notorious terrorist leader, Halilu Sububu, who was responsible for terrorizing communities in Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, and Kaduna States. Sububu was killed by NAF Special Forces during a joint mission under Operation HADARIN DAJI. His death follows shortly after the Nigerian Army announced the elimination of another terrorist kingpin, Halilu Buzu, in Zamfara State.

In a statement released on Friday, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, provided details of the mission. According to the statement, NAF forces, alongside other ground troops, conducted a follow-up operation after an encounter with terrorists near Mayanchi. During the mission, 38 terrorists were neutralized, with four bodies recovered for verification. The troops also seized a large cache of weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns, rifles, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, two northern groups, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) and the Northern Awareness Network (NAN), have lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces for their recent success in counter-terrorism efforts. AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima, praised the military for its renewed determination in combating banditry, noting the significant disruption of bandit activities in the region. NAN Chairman, Saliu Suleiman, also commended the bravery of the armed forces and acknowledged the leadership of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for his role in intensifying efforts to restore peace in the North-West region.

These successful operations reflect a strengthened military strategy against banditry and terrorism, aiming to bring security and stability to affected communities.
