Apongbon Fire: Lagos Govt Shuts Eko Bridge, Gives 48-Hours Quit Notice To Traders

Following the fire incident which razed some makeshift shops and containers under the Eko Bridge at Oke Arin, Apongbon on Wednesday, the Lagos State Government has shut down the bridge.

Also, the government gave a 48-hour notice to traders and squatters under the Eko Bridge.

Recall that it was earlierĀ reported that the early morning fire affected some parts of the bridge and caused gridlock in the area.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts , Mr Gbenga Oyerinde, gave the information at the commencement of the removal of containers and makeshift shops affected by the fire incident to forestall spreading to other parts of the area.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde explained that integrity assessment would be carried out to check the level of damage caused by the fire incidence for proper rehabilitation of the bridge.
