Bolt Announces Suspension Of Over 5,000 Drivers

Bolt, a ride-hailing company, has announced that it has placed over 5,000 drivers on suspension in the last six months due to non-compliance and safety-related issues.

The Country Manager of Bolt, Yahaya Mohammed, who revealed this at a press conference in Lagos recently, made it known that the firm was intensifying safety measures on its platform with a dedicated focus on riders and drivers.

He noted Bolt allocated over N20m to enhance safety features, introduce advanced reporting mechanisms, and conduct driver and rider awareness programs.

According to Mohammed, the strict compliance measures aim to ensure safety standards and result in swift consequences, including permanent suspension for non-compliant individuals.

At Bolt, the safety of all users on our platform is our top priority. We understand the trust our users place in us, and we are taking proactive steps to ensure their well-being during every ride.

Our enhanced safety measures, stricter compliance measures, coupled with technology-driven solutions, reaffirm our commitment to providing a secure and reliable transportation experience for all,” the country manager said.

He noted that Bolt remained committed to continuing to provide top-tier safety infrastructure within the transportation and mobility ecosystem.

The company continues to permanently block drivers and riders, reported for any misconduct, from accessing the platform. These operational changes aim to amplify the safety features and trip experience of users on its platform.

He added some of the initiatives that Bolt had undertaken to enhance quality and safety on its platform include enhanced safety measures, driver and rider awareness programs, stricter compliance measures, and advanced reporting mechanisms.
