Borussia Dortmund Signs Julian Ryerson From Union Berlin

Borussia Dortmund has announced the signing of Norway international, Julian Ryerson from Union Berlin.

Ryerson, who has made 21 appearances across three competitions for Union this season, moves to Dortmund on a three-and-a-half-year-deal through to summer 2026.

The 25-year-old’s arrival provides some important cover in various positions, with the Norway international adept at playing on both flanks.

We need defensive stability for the challenges that await us,” Dortmund sporting director, Sebastian Kahl made this known in an interview

Julian Ryerson is an intelligent and aggressive defender, in a good way. He can play on either side of the back four and in a back three. We’re very happy to have made the transfer happen so quickly.

Ryerson says goodbye to Union, having made 109 appearances across a four-and-a-half period in which he helped the capital club gain promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time and twice qualify for Europe.

“It wasn’t an easy decision for me to leave Union because I have so much to thank this special club, my teammates, colleagues and fans for,” Ryerson explained.
