Breaking; Assistant Commissioner of Police hacked to death in Calabar
An assistant commissioner of police by name Egbe Eko Edum has been hacked to death in Calabar, Cross River state. He was serving as the commander of 73 police mobile force squadron in Magumeri, Borno state. The incident happened today and according to reports, the deceased was on his way home when he was hacked to death with an axe by gunmen [assassins] and his body left on the road along Murtala Muhammed highway in Calabar by Pepsi depot, around 1am on wednesday.
Confirming the incident, Cross River state police command public relations officer, DSP Irene Ugbo said that the late officer, who was serving in another state, came into Calabar to see his family but arrived in the wee hours.
”He dropped off from a public transport and had called his wife to pick him up before he was attacked by the unknown men.
We are investigating the incident and the family has recovered the body from the scene of the tragic incident. He is not serving here. I think he was coming to see his family here in Cross River, he arrived in Calabar at about 1am when the incident happened”. She said.
