Car Crushes Tow Truck Driver To Death In Ogun State
A tow truck driver lost his life while four others sustained injuries in a road crash along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Road on Saturday.
It was gathered that the crash happened at about 11:40 a.m. around Ajede Junction, Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the crash, saying it involved three men and three women.
“Four persons were injured and unfortunately, one person died,” the Ogun State FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, disclosed in a statement.
Okpe made it known that a Toyota Sienna with number plate FKJ551FE had rammed into a tow truck with the number plate, BDG733GH.
The tow truck driver was said to have parked the vehicle on the shoulder of the road, and he died due to the impact of the crash.
“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed which led to loss of control and the Sienna car collided with the towing vehicle parked on the hard shoulder of the road, killing the driver of the towing vehicle,” Okpe said.
The statement added that the FRSC, police, and other responders carried out the rescue operation.
“The injured victims were taken to Ronna Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, while the corpse was deposited at the General Hospital morgue, Ijebu-Ode,” it was stated.
The state command of the FRSC, therefore, advised motorists to obey simple traffic rules and consider other road users.
