Chelsea Defeats Tottenham As Rudiger Seals Carabao Cup Final Spot

Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham has moved them to the League Cup final. Antonio Rudiger’s goal and three VAR decisions helped the Blues bag a 3-0 aggregate success on Wednesday.

Rudiger’s first half header ensured Chelsea pressed home the advantage they had earned with a 2-0 win in the first leg last week.

Chelsea dominated possession in the first half and their third goal of the tie arrived in the 17th minute. A corner into the box was met by Rudiger ahead of Pierluigi Gollini, who misjudged the flight of the ball, to give Chelsea a comfortable advantage.

Liverpool host the coronavirus-delayed first leg of their semi-final against the Gunners on Thursday.

It is Chelsea’s first League Cup final appearance since 2019 as they aim to win the competition for the first time since 2015.

Tuchel has now taken Chelsea to three finals since taking over from Frank Lampard in January 2020.
