David Corenswet To Replace Henry Cavill As The New Superman

Rising American actor, David Corenswet, has been chosen to replace Henry Cavill as the new Superman.

Rachel Brosnahan will also take on the role of Lois Lane in ‘Superman: Legacy’, the film that will launch DC’s new universe under writer-director James Gunn.

The new cast members come after Henry Cavill, the British actor, stepped down from the superhero franchise in December last year.

Corenswet and Brosnahan were said to be among the six actors who vied for the lead roles.

They are not only both incredible actors but also wonderful people,” Gunn posted on Twitter while confirming the news.

Gunn, who directed ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for Marvel, earlier announced the pre-production for the superhero movie.

“I’m honored to be a part of the legacy. And what better day than #SupermanAnniversay Day to dive fully into early pre-production on #SupermanLegacy? Costumes, production design, and more are now up and running,” he wrote.

Gunn co-leads the new DC Studios with producer Peter Safran.

Filming of ‘Superman: Legacy’ is expected to begin early next year with a release date set for July 11, 2025.

Corenswet, 29, is a native of Philadelphia. He is known for his roles in the 2022 thriller ‘Pearl’, Netflix series ‘The Politician’ and ‘Hollywood’.

Brosnahan, on the other hand, won an Emmy for her performance in Amazon’s ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’. She also appeared in ‘House of Cards’ and ‘I’m Your Woman’.
