Edo Gov, Okpebholo Swears In Permanent Secretaries, Warns Against Laziness

Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an efficient and transparent civil service as he inaugurated three new permanent secretaries at the Government House, Benin.

Speaking at the ceremony, Okpebholo emphasized the importance of training and retraining public servants to enhance service delivery, stating that effective governance hinges on a capable and dedicated workforce.

“Edo people voted for us to provide good governance, and public service delivery will be central to that agenda. Gone are the days when anything goes in public service. My administration will not tolerate indolence and a lackadaisical approach to work,” the governor said.

He added, “To this end, we are building a team of regular civil servants that will be effective and transparent in their call to duty. We will ensure that public servants in Edo State are constantly trained and repositioned to achieve our dream of a better Edo.

Okpebholo also urged the new permanent secretaries to continue demonstrating excellence and professionalism in their roles, pledging the administration’s full support for public service reforms.

Responding on behalf of her colleagues, one of the newly inaugurated permanent secretaries, Stella Eshieshie, assured the governor of their dedication to implementing his administration’s policies effectively, leveraging their expertise to achieve the goals of a better Edo State.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, in a statement, highlighted the administration’s focus on creating a vibrant civil service to meet the expectations of Edo residents.
