Election: Tribunal Affirms Election of Benue APC Rep, Agbese

The major opposition parties in the Election into the Federal House of Representatives, Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party, have lost at tribunal, as tribunal affirms Agbese’ win.

LP and PDP had dragged APC representative to court challenging his win. However the National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi affirmed the election of Honourable Phillip Agbese for the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue.

The National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi has affirmed the election of Rep. Philip Agbese of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue.

The sitting judge, Justice Emeka Dada, dismissed the petitions made by the opposition parties candidates challenging Agbese’ election.

Delivering judgement, Dada described the opposition parties petition as faulty as regards unlawful exclusion, which is not a ground for election petition.

He add that the LP candidate was unable to discharge the burden of proof of non-compliance and discharging other irregularities.
