Empowering the Future: Tinubu Launches National Conference For Nigerian Youths

In a significant move to empower the nation’s youth, President Bola Tinubu announced a 30-day National Youth Conference during his address on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. This initiative aims to create a platform for young people to engage in dialogue about the diverse challenges they face and explore opportunities for nation-building.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of involving the youth in shaping their future, stating, “We lead today with the future we wish to bequeath to our children in focus, recognising that we cannot design a future that belongs to them without making them its architects.” With over 60% of Nigeria’s population comprised of young people, the President underscored the need for their active participation in national issues.

The conference is set to unite youth from across the country to collaboratively address critical topics, including education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. The selection process for delegates and the conference’s modalities will involve close consultation with youth representatives, ensuring that their aspirations guide the discussions.

This confab will provoke meaningful dialogue and empower our young people to participate actively in nation-building. By ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the policies that impact their lives, we are creating a pathway for a brighter tomorrow,” Tinubu explained.

The President also highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to support the youth through various programs. Among these initiatives is the **3 Million Technical Talents Programme (3MTT)**, which aims to bolster Nigeria’s technical workforce. Additionally, the **Nigerian Education Loan Fund** has been introduced to provide affordable loans for students pursuing tertiary education.

Later this month, the government will also launch the **Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme**, a comprehensive suite of interventions designed to create 2.5 million jobs annually, while ensuring the welfare and safety of workers.

Through these efforts, Tinubu’s administration is committed to equipping the youth with the tools and opportunities necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among the younger generation in the process of nation-building.
