FAAN Announces Temporary Power Shutdown at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a scheduled power supply shutdown at the International Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. This maintenance activity will take place on Saturday, between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., as part of efforts to ensure optimal operational standards at the airport.

The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, and circulated on Friday. According to FAAN, the planned power outage will be conducted with minimal disruption to flight operations and passenger facilitation.

Contingency Measures in Place

To accommodate operations during the maintenance window, FAAN has taken steps to mitigate inconveniences for passengers and stakeholders. Royal Air Maroc, one of the airlines scheduled to operate within the maintenance period, will temporarily relocate to International Terminal 1 for check-in and arrival formalities.

FAAN also emphasized its commitment to ensuring seamless operations during the shutdown. In the statement, the authority affirmed that airlines, security agencies, and concessionaires have been adequately notified of the development to facilitate smooth coordination.

Passenger Safety and Satisfaction

While acknowledging potential inconveniences, FAAN reassured passengers and stakeholders of its dedication to their safety and security. The statement highlighted the agency’s commitment to providing uninterrupted movement and prioritizing the well-being of airport users during this period.

We regret any inconvenience caused to our stakeholders and passengers. The safety and security of all airport users will always be paramount in our considerations,” the statement concluded.

Broader Implications

Scheduled maintenance activities like this reflect FAAN’s commitment to upholding operational efficiency and safety standards at one of Nigeria’s busiest airports. Such efforts are crucial in maintaining the integrity of airport infrastructure, especially in a rapidly growing aviation sector like Nigeria’s.

Passengers are advised to stay updated on further developments and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans during the maintenance window. FAAN’s proactive measures underscore its focus on minimizing disruptions while ensuring the safety of passengers and stakeholders alike.
